ConGRADulations Angela
One of my good friends' younger sister was graduating from middle school this past May and I was asked to make her graduation cake for her party. The school colors were red and white. They didn't have a design in mind so I just came up with something that would appeal to a teen by being fun and young. I made a 10" round and offset a 6" round on top of that. One cake was white cake with a strawberry buttercream and the other was a red velvet cake with vanilla buttercream to play on the red and white colors of the Middle School. The graduation cap was made of MMF covered Rice Krispies molded into the shape of the bottom of the cap. The circles on the cake and the lettering was stenciled on with red colored royal icing. They loved the cake and she is now a happy Freshman.
April Cake Bonanza
The week of Easter I had 3 cakes that were due. So here are the 3 that were due:
1. Happy Birthday Jeremiah
This was for my mom's friend's son's birthday. The cake is marble cake with strawberry banana filling. The cake was covered with Buttercream frosting. She just wanted a simple sheet cake for her son's birthday.
2. Happy Birthday Kathleen
This cake was for my step mother's birthday. She said she wanted something simple and colorful. She loves the look of the gerber daisies. So i used bright colored fondant to make the gerber daisies. It was marble cake with buttercream filling.
3. Happy Birthday Alex and Jailyn
This cake was for my niece and nephew. It was marble cake and was filled with buttercream and covered in MMF. The cake was cut and stacked into the shape of a puppy. The puppy was designed off of the stuffed puppy that my nephew loves. My niece when they did the cake was petting the cake as though it was a real puppy. I was also told that she didn't want them to cut up the cake.
So Much has happened....
Ok guys, I've been so super crazy busy since I last posted that it isn't even funny. Now as we have slowed down and taken a few breaths, we now head into the holiday season. But, before we go there I am going to make a ton of posts for most of the cakes/projects that have happened since the last post. So, get ready to have the blog explode of sugary sweetness. :)

Angry Birds Birthday Cake
One of my friends asked me to make her husband's birthday cake. He is apparently addicted to angry birds, thus an angry birds themed cake. After much searching to find a good picture of the birds and piggies, it was time to bake and create. He LOVES chocolate, or so I was told. So, I made the base of the cake of 2 chocolate 9x13 cakes and filled them with chocolate ganache. That's right, super chocolate cake. ;) The cake was then crumbcoated with vanilla buttercream (still perfecting the chocolate buttercream) and chilled. Then the cake was covered in a green tinted MMF. The birds and the piggies are made of rice krispie treats that I molded and then crumbcoated and coved in tinted MMF. It was super exciting when the birds and piggies started to come alive with all their little eyes, tails, eyebrows, etc. Then I took a dowel rod cut at the height needed and covered it thick in tinted MMF and took toothpicks to support the sides of the slingshot and then added a small strip of fondant to the back for the slingshot. A little blue bird was then added to the slingshot. The wood and stones are just molded MMF. Then the rest of the piggies and birds were added to the cake and then the wood and stones. I took green tinted buttercream and piped grass onto the cake between the wood and stones and around then the slingshot base. For around the cake, I cut out grass blades out of green tinted MMF and added them to the cake sides. Total time for this cake was ~ 10 hrs.

Bridal Shower for Stella
My sister-in-law came to me at the end of January and asked me to make a bridal shower cake/cupcake for her friend. Her and the other bridesmaids had a forest, winter bluish-gray sort of theme. She sent me a picture of the invitations and the centerpieces. The centerpieces had carnations on branches and the invitations had a birch forest on them. So, I designed a cake that had Peppridge Farm's Pirouettes surrounding it and gumpaste carnations on the top. I found on Etsy a woman that makes these beautiful wire trees with birthstones on the the wires. The girls wanted 3 types of cupcakes: Red Velvet w/ french vanilla buttercream, Carrot Cake w/ cream cheese frosting & Orange Dream w/ vanilla buttercream. They also had yellow gluten-free cupcakes for one of the bridesmaids. The cake was a 6" round made of buttery golden cake and filled with vanilla buttercream. I made different color gumpaste flowers just in case the girls couldn't figure out which was which cupcake. From what I've been told, it was a complete hit and more important the bride LOVED it!!! :)
